Kodi is a software package which allows you to set up a media center in your home with minimal effort and time investment. However, once it's installed, you'll need to add some content. To do this, you can import music and videos which are stored locally on your computer, or install pieces of software called add-ons which provide access to media hosted by other people.

There are dozens of these add-ons in the official Kodi add-on repository, but if you're looking for a greater variety, why not try installing SuperRepo, Kodi's largest third-party add-on repository? Don't worry: this is a fairly simple process, and we're going to take you through it one step at a time.

It should be noted that SuperRepo tends to update its content slower and less frequently than some of the other repositories, so the add-ons it contains may not be the most up to date versions. For this reason, it's important to make sure that you're using the latest version of any add-on you download, as earlier versions may have unpatched vulnerabilities.

To check the current version number of any of your installed add-ons, you just have to scroll down the home menu and click onAdd-ons, thenMy Add-ons ,and finally, All . Each add-on's version number will be displayed on the right hand side of the screen.

Additionally, SuperRepo houses a range of add-ons, some of which are fully legal and others which are unofficial and offer unsanctioned streaming options. We do not provide any add-on recommendations in this guide for SuperRepo. Users should perform the proper research on different add-ons before attempting to install them.

Comparitech does not condone or encourage any violation of copyright restrictions, including illegal streaming through Kodi. Kodi can be used for many excellent, legal online streaming purposes. Please consider the law, victims, and risks of piracy before downloading or streaming copyrighted material without permission .

Before you install any add-ons from a repository, it's important to know how to protect yourself. There's no guarantee that your data and browsing history will be kept private. Also, some internet service providers (ISP) have automated systems which can detect if you are streaming content. These can severely impact your network speeds, even if you aren't doing anything illegal.

There is a way to prevent this whilst ensuring that your data remains private, though. You can use a virtual private network (VPN) to encrypt all traffic to and from your computer, thereby obfuscating any information that is transferred and stopping your ISP from limiting your speed. We recommend IPVanish – it's an inexpensive and reliable VPN that doesn't keep any logs of your activities and doesn't slow you down.

Installing Kodi

Before you can begin installing repositories or add-ons, you need to get Kodi running on your computer. Navigate your browser tohttps://kodi.tv/download  and select the operating system you'll be using, and the version of Kodi you'd like. The installer should begin to download. Once it's finished, run it, then once it's finished, open up Kodi.

Installing the Kodi SuperRepo repository

The first step towards installing SuperRepo is very simple. We need to tell Kodi where to find the repository's ZIP file. You can either save it to your computer, or download it directly from within Kodi, and we'll show you how to do both of these below.

Saving SuperRepo Locally

First, open up your browser and type" http://srp.nu " into the address bar, minus the quotation marks. Click on the version of Kodi you have (Helix is Kodi 14.2, Isengard is Kodi 15, Jarvis is Kodi 16, and Krypton is Kodi 17), then click all on the next page, and finally click the name of the ZIP file on the final page.

This will download SuperRepo. Make a note of the location you save it to, because this will be important in a few minutes.

Adding SuperRepo as a source

From the home screen, click the icon that looks like a gear. This will take you to the Settings page.

Next, click on the File Manager option in the bottom right. This is the area which will allow us to add a new source.

sr2

At the bottom of the list on the left-hand side, click Add source .

sr3

Click the box which says <None> in the window that pops up. Now, if you saved SuperRepo directly to your computer, this is where you enter the location you saved it to. You can either type this directly, or browse to it by clicking the Browse  button on the right-hand side.

If you didn't save it locally, use " http://srp.nu " as the source address, remembering to remove the quotation marks.

Next, type a name for your source into the box at the bottom. We've used "SuperRepo" here, just to keep things simple, but you can name it whatever you like.

sr4

Installing add-ons from the SuperRepo repository

Now that you have SuperRepo installed, you're probably wanting to install some of the add-ons it contains. To do this, scroll down the menu on Kodi's home screen, and click on the option which saysAdd-ons.

sr5

From here, click on the icon that looks like a cardboard box. This will take us to the page that lets us install new add-ons.sr6

In the list on the next page, click on the option which saysInstall from zip file.

sr7

Select the SuperRepo repository from the list. Bear in mind that if you named it something different earlier, it might not be called "SuperRepo". Instead, look for whatever you decided to call it.

sr8

Next, select the version of Kodi you're using. Krypton is the official name for Kodi 17, so if you've only recently installed Kodi, this is probably the version you need.

If you saved SuperRepo locally, you can skip this step .

On the next screen, choose which sub-repositories you'd like to install. SuperRepo actually contains so many add-ons that it's easier to split them into groups than browse them all at once. You can download just the video add-ons, for example. For now, we're going to selectall , then click on the zip file.

sr9

Once you've done this, you'll be returned to the Add-on Browser page. This time, selectInstall from repository .

sr10

Scroll down the list until you see the SuperRepo repositories that you installed a moment ago.

Clicking on one of them will allow you to browse all of the add-ons they contain, although the SuperRepo Repositories folder requires you to install a subcategory add-on first.

And that's it! You now have access to all of the add-ons that Kodi's largest repository has to offer. Simply put, there's something for everyone in SuperRepo, and if you can't find an add-on you like, it won't be due to lack of choice.

SuperRepo contains a multitude of great add-ons for official content, including those designed forlive TV,movies, andsports .
